Pacific Union International, Inc. Branch Manager Jim Michaelsen opened a Pacific Union/Christie’s International Real Estate office in Petaluma to serve the Southern Sonoma County and the Western Coastal communities. Michaelsen’s focus is on the development of his agents in meeting their sales goals, along with maintaining the highest professional standards he requires. He has over 40 years of experience in a wide range of real estate activities, ranging from brokerage ownership to real estate sales, to residential construction, to developing real estate education curriculum for the Santa Rosa Junior College.
Born and raised in Marin County, Michaelsen migrated to Petaluma after active duty in the Navy. He attended Santa Rosa Junior College and San Francisco State University, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Business/Real Estate. He obtained his real estate sales license in 1969, working for Les Brians Realty in Petaluma.
Michaelsen was appointed deputy commissioner with the State of California Department of Real Estate in 1972, handling consumer issues, land fraud, and subdivision investigations throughout Northern California.
In 1980, Michaelsen received his California Real Estate Broker’s license. A year later, he earned his California Community College Teaching Credential and joined the faculty at Santa Rosa Junior College in the business administration department. Michaelsen taught business/real estate classes and was the coordinator for the real estate program. He continues to associate with the Santa Rosa Junior College as an adjunct instructor.
In 1985, Michaelsen and a partner purchased Golden Land Realty in Petaluma and expanded to a second office in Rohnert Park. He served as managing Broker for both locations. In early 2000, Michaelsen moved on to handling development in Washington State and working with investors in Austin, Texas and the Florida Gulf Coast, in addition to residential sales in Sonoma County.
In 2011, Michaelsen took over managing the Petaluma office of Frank Howard Allen Realtors. By the end of 2012, he had increased the sales staff from 17 to 30 agents, increased volume by 60 percent, and his office was named “Office of the Year” for all of the Frank Howard Allen offices. In October 2013, Frank Howard Allen Realtors was sold to Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage.
Michaelsen remains active in the local community, serving as a director for the Petaluma Chapter of Realtors and The Friends of Santa Rosa Junior College. Michaelsen is an active sailor and boater and member of the Petaluma Yacht Club. He delights in sharing the joys of living in Wine Country and Petaluma’s proximity to the coast.
Hi, I’m Karen Moyers. I am a full time real estate agent and I love what I do! Buying or selling a home can be a complicated and overwhelming process and I am passionate about helping my clients navigate successfully through it. Whether you’re selling your home for top dollar, or searching for the perfect place to call home, I am eager to share my years of market knowledge and experience to help you reach your goals.
As a Sonoma county resident for over 24 years, and having raised my children in the area, I have developed a comprehensive knowledge of neighborhoods, schools, and the community at large. My approach to real estate transactions is always proactive! I believe listening carefully to clients needs and communicating effectively with other Realtors, lenders, escrow officers and inspectors is key to ensuring a successful close of escrow.
I am eager to put my Midwestern work ethic, legal background, and effective communication skills to work for you!
